The European Energy Surcharge -

Updated (15-04-2008)

The Energy Surcharge (ESC) is a variable rate introduced by the European Glass

manufacturers to reflect the increase in the energy costs, associated with the manufacture and distribution of glass, it is not a delivery charge and

applies to all sales whether delivered or collected, after November 2004.

The amount is charged per Kilogram weight of glass supplied and is set once a quarter based on the IPE Brent Crude Oil Price Index in London.

On the 15 April 2008 the closing price of the index was $111.58.

The Energy Surcharge, therefore, is set in the $110 - $114 band for the 1 May 2008 and ending on 31 July 2008 and will be charged at £0.21 per kg on all invoices.

We have no control over the setting of the rate, which goes down as well as up.
